The New Jersey shoreline offers a wide selection of weekend excursions and nationally famous vacation destinations, from the family-oriented Ocean City and Victorian charm of Cape May to the posh resort hotels and gaming thrills of Atlantic City. Each summer hundreds of thousands of visitors from the Philadelphia area, New York, Maryland and Virginia choose to vacation along the world famous Jersey Shore.





Avalon
Avalon is South Jersey seashore resort whose motto is "Cooler by a mile" which refers to the fact that it juts out into the Atlantic Ocean about a mile farther than other barrier island resorts. Avalon beaches were voted by The Washingtonian the safest for swimming out of 30 beaches visited. The magazine called it "the best beach in New Jersey", with its gentle surf, natural dunes, a wide beach, and good life guards. It even has a small and well maintained boardwalk.

Avalon was ranked the seventh best beach in New Jersey in the 2008 Top 10 Beaches Contest sponsored by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium.

Cape May
Best known for its numerous authentic Victorian homes and bed and breakfast inns, the City of Cape May is a National Historical Landmark and is the nation's oldest seaside resort. As early as 1766, visitors, encouraged by their physicians to take in the good sea air and water, came from Philadelphia - by horse-drawn wagons, stagecoaches, sloops and schooners. At the turn of the century, advertisement in the Philadelphia papers described "the beautiful situation of Cape May, the sea-bathing, and the fish, oysters and crabs to eat and enjoy."

Cape May was ranked the fifth best beach in New Jersey in the 2008 Top 10 Beaches Contest sponsored by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium.

Sea Isle City
Sea Isle City was Voted Ninth in New Jersey’s Top Ten Beaches Survey of 2009, and winning the title of Best Beach in an NBC Philadelphia poll called The Golden Local. The pristine beaches offer the perfect place to relax and spend the day with the family, while enjoying the peaceful sounds of the ocean. If you’re more active, there are also offer many activities to participate in at the beach—a variety of sand and water sports, as well as boating, beachcombing, and surf fishing on thewarm sand. Stone Harbor
Stone Harbor and its northern neighbor Avalon share a barrier island that is commonly referred to as "Seven Mile Island." The island itself is about a mile further windward than the other barrier islands, allowing for nicer sea breezes. The island is also known for its high sand dunes, but be aware that they are home to numerous protected plants and a animals. Walking on the dunes can result in a fine. The beaches of Stone Harbor Stone Harbor are usually quiet and uncrowded.

Wildwood City

Wildwood Crest
The Borough of Wildwood Crest is a small shore resort community located at the extreme southern end of New Jersey immediately south of the City of Wildwood. It is part of what is known as The Wildwood's. Wildwood Crest's magnificent free and extremely wide beach is among the most beautiful in the world.
